Faculty of Humanities

The Chair of Psychology and Sociology was founded in 1992. The first head of the department was PhD, Associate Professor Ruben Aghuzumtsyan. In 1994, the Department was renamed “Pedagogy and Psychology”, the head of department: PhD, Professor Melsik Mkrtumyan. Since 2011, the Department was headed by PhD,  Associate Professor Vladimir Mikayelyan. Since 2013 September: PhD, Associate Professor Vachik Brutyan.

Since 2016, PhD, Assistant  Liana M. Harutyunyan is the head of the Department.

Senior students of the Faculty “Pedagogy and Psychology” carry out their educational and production internships mainly in educational institutions, psychological rehabilitation centers, penitentiary establishments, medical centers, financial-economic structures, orphanages etc.

In parallel with the teaching process, the Department carries out research work which ensures the principle of continuous education. The Department pays attention to improving the quality of lectures, increasing the efficiency of research and training of young workers. Today, the Department has a highly qualified teaching staff.

The branch also provides Part-time learning of the Faculty “Pedagogy and Psychology”, which is carried out with the above mentioned processes.

Since 2016, the Department carries out “Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology” educational program of “General Pedagogy” specialty.

In the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology, a Practical Psychology Club was opened in 2016.

The aim of the club is to develop students’ ability to communicate, to discuss different situations, to give personal consultations, to conduct psychological exercises, trainings, and debates on psychological topics.

The club will give an opportunity to organize meetings with students where life situations will be discussed, psychological exercises will be held, free debates on psychological topics will be organized.
