The Chair of History and Social Science

The Chair of History was formed in 1993. The first head of the department was Candidate of Historical Sciences Gurgen Geghamyan (1993), later PhD, Associate Professor Aram Haytyan (1994), PhD in history Gurgen Geghamyan (1996), Professor, PhD in history Rafik Nahapetyan (1999-2004), PhD in History, Associate Professor Simon Hmayakyan (2004-2006), PhD in history, Professor Rafik Nahapetyan (2008-2015), PhD in history, Professor Ashot Nersisyan (2015-2016), PhD in history, Associate professor Gevorg Melkonyan (2016), PhD in history, Associate Professor Davit Tinoyan (2016). 

The Chair provides education for the students of “History” specialty; it also serves other specialties of the university. A number of manuals and monographs have been published by the department. 

The Chair carries out scientific researches in the field of ethnography and old, medieval, new and modern history of the Armenian people.
